The Caledonian Book Club meets regularly every month encouraging its Members to read and discuss select books around the table. Last December the group reviewed ‘Bring Up the Bodies’ by British writer Hilary Mantel, the second part of a planned trilogy chronicling the rise and fall of Thomas Cromwell (1535 – 1536). First published in 2012 the book is the sequel to Mantel’s novel ‘Wolf Hall’ and both books won the Man Booker Prizes in 2009 and 2012 respectively.
The writer received the Honour of Dame Commander of the British Empire, from Prince Charles, Friday 6 February 2015. A lifetime achievement for the author of fourteen books, and currently at work on her third volume of the Thomas Cromwell Trilogy which is expected to be published in 2016.

The Royal Shakespeare Company recently adapted ‘Wolf Hall’ and ‘Bring Up the Bodies’ for a BBC TV Production which started the 21 January 2015.
