DINING ROOM NEWS
Farewell Susan …
After four years at the Club we said farewell to Dining Room Manager, Susan Galloway. She will be taking on the role of Restaurant Manager at the luxury resort Velassaru in the Maldives. Susan joined the Club in September 2012 under the Trainee Manager Programme. Initially working in each department she then took up the role of Dining Room Manager in August 2014. She will be greatly missed by Members and staff alike.
Head Chef, Roger Evans, is experiencing his first Christmas in charge and is settling in well. Members will be delighted to know that goose is making its annual appearance on the menu and the special Christmas Menu started on Monday.
This is a very busy time in the Dining Room so please do book in advance to avoid disappointment.
BURNS SUPPER 2017
The theme for our Burns night on Friday 20 January is ‘Scots Abroad’ with a nod to Burns’ journeying which did not take him as far as London. Stuart Kelly, former editor of Scotland on Sunday, will be proposing the Immortal Memory. Club Member Andrew Fox will toast the lassies while Dundonian author and broadcaster A L Kennedy will reply. Lilly Papaioannou from the Islands (Greek islands) will sing for us. Click here for more details.
A ‘Convivial Companions’ table will be provided for those attending on their own and who are not part of a larger group. When booking, please let Clare Irvine know whether you wish to join the ‘Convivial Companions’ group.
TRAINING DAY & STAFF PARTY
Friday 6 January
New Members may not be aware of the Club tradition of the Staff Party. Roles are reversed and Members volunteer to serve the staff in the Bar, Kitchen and Dining Room. This evening has grown in popularity and any prize that you may be able to donate for the raffle would be much appreciated. All proceeds will be donated to a Scottish related charity. For more information or if you wish to help out on the night please contact Assistant Secretary, David Balden.
Members are reminded that there will be no facilities on Friday 6 January due to the Staff Training Day.
