The Caledonian Club has a long standing and close connection with rugby in particular Scottish rugby, we were delighted that the squad of 1989 British Lions Rugby held their 25th Anniversary Reunion dinner here at the Club. Guests of the evening included former captains David Sole and Finlay Calder, along with Gavin and Scott Hastings. In a recent interview with the Edinburgh News, Finlay revealed that how proud he is that the 89 Lions played a part in creating the interest which led rugby to be able to sustain itself as a professional sport six years later.
